
The University of Tennessee-Martin has reported their second highest enrollment in school history.
During the recent UTM Advisory Board meeting, Dr. Destin Tucker, assistant vice chancellor for enrollment management, reported 8,101 total students enrolled.
The Fall-to-Fall enrollment represented a 7.9-percent increase.
The number of students at UT Martin for the semester included attendees from 87 of the 95 Tennessee counties, along with students from 40 states and 29 countries.
Statistics also indicated first-year students at 1,329 for an 8.9-percent increase, with out-of-state students representing 10-percent of the total.
The largest number of in-state students at UT Martin are from Shelby County, followed by Weakley and Gibson counties with seven-percent each, Obion County at six-percent, Carroll County at five-percent, and Dyer and Madison at four-percent each.
The university has set a goal of reaching 10,000 students.
