A death investigation has led to first degree murder charges against a Water Valley man.

Graves County Sheriff Jon Hayden said 40 year old Stanley Napier Jr. was charged with the shooting death of 49 year old Daniel Ray Jaco, of Clinton, last Thursday in Graves County.

Sheriff’s office reports said deputies and Kentucky State Police were called around 8:15 last Thursday morning, following an altercation between Napier and Jaco at a chicken barn on Kingston Road.

After the altercation was over, witnesses said Napier left the barn and retrieved a handgun.

He then went back inside the barn and shot Jaco, who died from his injuries.

The Graves County grand jury indicted Napier Tuesday on the murder charge and first degree wanton endangerment.

He was issued a $100,000 cash bond, or $200,000 property bond following his arrest.
