A Hickman man was seriously injured in a lawn mowing accident on Monday afternoon.
Fulton County Sheriff’s Office reports said Jonathan Philpott received severe lacerations to his right arm and side after falling from a mower at his residence on Sutton Road.
Sheriff’s reports said the accident occurred when Philpott fell from the mower while attempting to pick up his dropped phone.
He was then run over with the blades engaged.
After a passer-by noticed Philpott on the ground and contacted Fulton County Dispatch, Sheriff’s deputy Rob Sanger was working in a nearby field and traveled to the scene to apply a tourniquet to control the bleeding.
Ken-Tenn EMS was called to the scene and transported the victim to the nearest out-of-state Level 1 trauma hospital for treatment.
