Planned Power Outage in West Kentucky Due to Vandalism

The Tennessee Valley Authority has planned an outage tonight at a Western Kentucky substation, to repair damage caused by vandals last week.

The Gibson Electric Membership Corporation said the outage is scheduled to begin at 11:00 at the Clinton substation, which will affect about 2,760 customers.

The outage is expected to last about four hours.

TVA officials made temporary repairs following the vandalism last week, with additional repairs needed to prevent an even larger outage.

Reports said TVA police are now asking for the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible for shooting holes in equipment at the Clinton location.

Police believe this was an intentional act and not an accident.

Anyone with information can call the TVA Police at 855-476-2489 or the Hickman County Sheriff’s Office.
