Tennesseans can now get free carbon monoxide detectors from the state.

 

The Department of Commerce and Insurance and Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office’s reminds everyone   “Get Alarmed, Tennessee!”

 

State Fire Marshal and Commerce Commissioner Carter Lawrence said during Winter Storm Fern” people turned to alternative power and heating sources in order to stay warm which led to co-related illnesses and fatalities.

 

Carbon monoxide poses a unique threat, because it’s an odorless and colorless gas. It’s also used in household items like heaters or generators.

 

You can contact your local fire department regarding a carbon monoxide and a smoke detector.
