Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has proclaimed this week as “Correctional Professionals’ Week” across the state.

“Correctional Professionals’ Week” is observed each year during the first full week of May.

It honors the dedicated men and women who serve in prisons, jails, community supervision offices, day reporting centers, and in other critical roles throughout Tennessee.

The week not only recognizes the contributions to public safety, but also the meaningful impact the employees have on individuals, families, and communities in the State of Tennessee.

Commissioner Frank Strada said Correctional professionals work every day to maintain safe and secure facilities, support rehabilitation, and help prepare individuals for successful reentry.

The Tennessee Department of Correction has nearly 6,000 correctional professionals who serve across the state each day.
